it was a festival of happiness. a carefree day. a uniting of all races.
i was a little apprehensive of the whole thing at first. i mean, what could be fun about the new year? alas, i was wrong. the
thai new year, must be the most enjoyable one ever! apart from collecting ang baos, of course. :)
as soon as i got off the cab flour mixture was slapped on my face. raw. ok that was it...the scorching made it feel really irky and all. as i begun my journey thru the street with armed warriors ready for battle, i shuddered at the thought of having no weapon no defense whatsoever.
with no room for reservations, the water came at all directions! at first, i was a little
watered (
you know, like not very wet.). then i
got wet. and soon enough, i was
drenched thoroughly.
pardon my lack of better descriptions.
people of all ages were like throwing water at everyone they passed. most had a water gun, or two. i had a few guys pour
ice water down my back. boy it was
freezing like mad in hot bangkok, if only for a second. a hose was left running as people danced in the street. strangers could have fun together too, i thought.
at the end of it i was so wet u could squeeze water off my clothes and i had prolly enough flour on my face to make a small pancake. it was good, good fun though. and the water is sposed to 'wash away ur sins' and the flour is like a blessing or sorts for the new year. sure, it wasnt my new year. i had fun and isnt that what the celebration is about?
even back at the hotel as i struggled to enter the cab 2little girls actually rushed forward and tried to throw water at me again. see. the whole day is reserved for such wet fun. literally. i think they should have a law in singapore to do this too.
